Squad |
What is the
council?
It is the body comprising representatives of affiliated clubs and schools, as
well as the squad leadership and the En Garde maitre.
The primary objective is pool resources so as to manage projects which are beyond
the capacity of a single club.
It is there to ensure that the needs of
fencers of all levels are catered for; that is to look after the "big
picture".
It usually meets once a term, before a squad practice.

practices for proficiency award activities.

larger process.

quarterly, and included in the tuition fees.
Competitions
organised by the Council 2004
- En Garde tournaments are the responsibility of the council, and hosted by
the clubs.
- Only affiliated fencers can participate. League competitions are team events,
therefore no-one may enter as an individual.
- Any "profit" made from an event, once the costs have been
deducted from entry fees, go to the council.
- Clubs can ask for a reasonable "hiring" charge for hosting the
event.
- Competitions are there for the enjoyment of the fencers, as well as part
of the training programme, and as such are essentially non-profit making
activities. The bulk of the entry fees must be plowed back to the benefit of
the fencers..
- Nine Competitions:
- Three Junior League events (U13 and younger)
- Three Super League events (U15 and older)
- En Garde Gala Championships (all age- groups)
- Sponsorship for Leagues by the council:
- Junior (Benjamin) League top 4
- Super Foil (Minim) League top 4: best placed minims
- Prizes same for both: R400 / R200 /R150 /R100 (vouchers)
- Super League overall prizes as in 2004, dependant on total entry
fees received. Costs to be kept to a minimum, so that as much as possible
goes to the winners. The minim sponsorship is over and above the overall
cash prizes.
